Representatives of the Handicraft Division and the Office for International Relations of the Budapest Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BKIK) visited Vienna on 28 April 2025 at the invitation of the Building Cleaning Academy (Gebäudereinigungsakademie) and the Mechatronics Training Centre (MAZ Wien). The study tour continued the 2023 visit, during which the BKIK delegation examined the cleaning protocols used in Austria at the Sigron headquarters. Building on the relationships established earlier, this year offered an opportunity to learn about Vienna’s chamber models for cleaning and hygiene technologies, supporting the further development of BKIK’s cleaning and hygiene technology master training programme.
The Budapest delegation was welcomed by Gerhard Komarek, President of the Vienna Guild of Monument, Facade and Commercial Cleaners, and representative of the Vienna and Austrian Economic Chambers. In his presentation, he introduced the guild’s position within the chamber structure and the characteristics of the Austrian cleaning sector. He was followed by Christoph Guserl, Managing Director of the Building Cleaning Academy, who presented the training practices offered by the academy and guided the delegation through the facility.

As part of the programme, the delegation also visited the Mechatronics Training Centre, where Sonja Elvira Reumüller, Vice-Chair of the Vienna Mechatronics Guild, presented the characteristics of the Vienna mechatronics sector and its training programmes, placing special emphasis on chamber practices. After her introduction, she guided the delegation through the building, offering further insight into the various phases of training.
Through the study visit, BKIK representatives gained valuable insights into Austrian chamber practices, particularly in the fields of cleaning-industry and mechatronics training — an important step towards the further development of BKIK’s training courses and master programmes. Supporting similar cross-sectoral international collaborations and integrating insights from these professions into training remains a key priority for BKIK.
