A representative of Kuube, the smart-furniture manufacturer, shared his exhibitor experience
The joint delegation of the Budapest Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Hungarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry will once again participate at the Smart City Expo World Congress (SCEWC) in Barcelona between 3–6 November, one of the world’s most significant smart city–themed expos. We spoke with Dániel Széles, Business Development Manager of the Hungarian smart-furniture manufacturer Kuube, about his previous experiences in Barcelona.
Please briefly introduce Kuube, the smart-furniture manufacturer!
Kuube is the only Hungarian smart-furniture manufacturer that creates autonomous public-space furniture, smart bus stops and smart piers. We dress and enhance public spaces with the comfort of home, creating new meeting points for the smart cities of the future. We collect and provide environmental data while purifying the air in public spaces. Our products are made from more than 70% recyclable materials, ensuring durability, long-term operation and aesthetic quality after installation. Kuube opens new directions in urban marketing with integrated HQ speakers and IPS touchscreens that generate scalable attention and interaction.
How did your company connect with the Budapest Chamber of Commerce and Industry?
From the outset, our company has considered cooperation with organisations like BKIK essential for supporting entry into international markets. Soon after our founding in 2020, we became voluntary members of BKIK, hoping that we would be able to exhibit abroad as soon as possible.

What were your experiences at the 2023 Smart City Expo in Barcelona?
Only three of us attended the 2023 Smart City Expo Barcelona, and even then we realised that this is the kind of exhibition where we need to be present every year. With the help of BKIK, we were able to present our company at an extremely favourable cost and we acquired relevant contacts and knowledge, particularly regarding potential markets and distributors.
In 2024, we exhibited with our own product at the BKIK stand and at an external location as well, which resulted in a breakthrough success. As a result, potential distributor candidates approached us from every continent, and we have since concluded agreements with several of them for local representation.
The SCEWC exhibition is, in every respect, the most relevant smart city event for any company that aims to expand internationally — and sooner or later, one must exhibit with their own product at a stand capable of attracting visitors’ attention.
How has your participation at the expo contributed to your business success since then?
We gained new opportunities in Asia, North America and South America, made sales within Europe, and laid the foundations for further sales in countries where we already have distributors.
Thank you for the interview, and we wish you continued success!
