The Budapest Chamber of Commerce and Industry, in cooperation with the Embassy of Hungary in Lisbon, organized a business delegation with the participation of innovative Hungarian companies for the Portugal Smart City Summit held in Lisbon from October 7-11, 2024. The event provided an excellent opportunity for the companies to showcase their smart city management solutions and to build connections with Portuguese business partners and municipal leaders.
Throughout the exhibition, numerous business discussions were initiated with Portuguese distributors and potential partners. João Pedro Guimarães, Secretary-General of the Portuguese Chamber of Commerce, personally extended his support to the Hungarian enterprises. A significant milestone was also achieved with the signing of a cooperation agreement between BKIK and the Portuguese Chamber of Commerce.
The delegation was also hosted at an exclusive reception at the Embassy of Hungary in Lisbon, where Dr. Emília Fábián, Hungary's Ambassador to Lisbon, welcomed the businesses. The companies had the opportunity to introduce themselves to local mayors and businesspeople and attend various presentations.
In addition, the delegation visited the city of Cascais, where municipal leaders showcased the latest smart city developments. These innovations have the potential to inspire and support further advancements by Hungarian companies in the smart city domain.
The successful completion of this professional visit marks an important milestone in the strengthening of Hungarian-Portuguese relations. It opened new business opportunities not only within the corporate sector but also facilitated stronger ties with the municipal sector, fostering collaboration and innovation at multiple levels.
