Mr Abdelkarim HERMI reported on the fact that Tunisia is expected to sign a cooperation agreement with the EU (Accord de libre-échange complet et approfondi (ALECA)) in the near future. This agreement aims to promote free trade by reducing tariff and non-tariff barriers, including trade in services and industrial goods, raw materials and agricultural products. He suggested that Tunisia should be seen as a “window to Africa”, meaning that it is easier to do business with sub-Saharan African countries through Tunisia.
Mr Abdelkarim HERMI stressed that he sees considerable opportunities for cooperation with Hungary in the field of agriculture. He is pleased that Jasmin Airways, which is the new low-cost Tunisian airline, will soon be operating a direct flight between the two capitals.
