Twelve Hungarian innovations showcased at the Smart City Expo in Barcelona

The Hungarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MKIK) and the Budapest Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BKIK) are jointly representing Hungary at the Smart City Expo World Congress in Barcelona, held between 3–6 November 2025.

Participation is made possible within the framework of the Enterprise Development Project, supported by the Ministry for National Economy, which aims to facilitate the international market entry of export-ready small and medium-sized enterprises.

This year, the “Innovention Hungary” shared national stand presents Hungary’s innovation ecosystem across 120 square metres. With its world-class appearance, large LED walls, green wall, and visual installations, the stand highlights Hungarian creativity and technological advancements. Already on the opening day, the pavilion attracted significant attention: numerous visitors stopped in front of the stand to explore the solutions offered by Hungarian companies.

The 12 exhibiting companies come from the fields of IT, digitalisation, and smart city technologies, showcasing their products and services to the international audience. Among the innovative developments on display are smart benches, smart pedestrian crossings, digital and three-dimensional mapping systems, wind-energy-based solutions, and green roof and camera systems.

Alongside the exhibiting companies, three institutions are also present as supporting professional partners: the HEPA Hungarian Export Promotion Agency, the John von Neumann Nonprofit Public Benefit Foundation, and the Institute for Advanced Studies.

The Hungarian pavilion stands out as one of the eye-catching and innovative displays at this year’s Smart City Expo, demonstrating that Hungary is an active player in the world of European smart city and technological innovations.
