The main purpose of the meeting was to promote mutual understanding between the two countries.

A 27-member delegation from Taiwan visited the BCCI headquarters on 17 April 2023, organized by the International Relations Office of the Budapest Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Mario Tsai, the Director of Taiwan Trade Center Budapest (TAITRA), also participated in the event. Our Chamber was well-represented at the meeting by Vice President Ádám Balog, Secretary General Ákos Csókay, and the presidents of the BCCI International and Foreign Economy Cabinet, President András Rév, and Vice Presidents Péter Keszthelyi and Miklós Bornemisza.

The main aim of the meeting was to promote mutual understanding between the two countries and to introduce the companies they represent. In his presentation, Vice President Ádám Balog spoke about the most important market characteristics of Hungary, and in this context, he described the history, tasks and operation of BCCI.

Director Mario Tsai gave an insight into the functioning of Taiwan's economy and gave a vivid presentation about the Hungarian-Taiwanese economic relations and the country itself, including population, area and trade volume, in comparison with other countries. He highlighted Taiwan's significant exports of ICT equipment and components to Hungary and the partnership with Videoton and Giant. He also mentioned the trade in bicycle parts between the two countries, which has outstanding export figures. He stressed Taiwan's growing role – despite the geopolitical tensions, COVID-19 and trade conflicts -  in the global supply chain, especially in the ICT sector, where there is multi-country production and market share is high.

As examples, he cited ACER, ASUS and Apple, whose products are assembled by Taiwanese companies in China and India. He also reported on Taiwan's cooperation with the United States, India and the Czech Republic. He also spoke about US President Joe Biden's visit to Taiwan's new semiconductor factory in Arizona, USA. He outlined efforts to build partnerships and avoid disruptions in the global ICT supply chain, including through platforms such as TAIWANTRADE.
