The event was opened by Dr. József Sztranyák, President of the Division of Economic Services of the Budapest Chamber of Commerce and Industry. He introduced the chamber's operations, organizational structure, and objectives, emphasizing Hungary's efforts to expand its international economic relations, with a special focus on the Latin American region. Following this, Péter Babák, Head of the International Relations Office, highlighted the importance of forums and delegations organized by the chamber in supporting the success of Hungarian businesses in foreign markets.
Her Excellency Cynthia Mayer Zavala, Ecuador’s Ambassador to Hungary, outlined the development of economic relations between the EU and Ecuador. She emphasized the role of Ecuador's agricultural products—such as cocoa, bananas, flowers, and tuna—on the EU market and shed light on the growing trade relations between Hungary and Ecuador, particularly in the export of automotive and wine industry products.
Carlos Zambrano, Commercial Director of Duran Cocoa, presented COFINA Cocoa, a key player in Ecuador’s chocolate and cocoa industry. He discussed the company’s sustainability efforts, including the Native Cocoa Project, which focuses on preserving indigenous cocoa varieties and supporting local farmers.
The event concluded with a presentation by Dr. György Potóczki, who addressed the logistical aspects of Hungarian-Ecuadorian trade and the importance of sustainability.
