The event was opened by Dr. Viktória Bódi, Secretary General of BKIK, who highlighted the importance of Hungarian–Taiwanese and Hungarian–Thai economic relations and the significance of the achieved results. The meeting was moderated by Gábor Kiss, former Ambassador of Hungary to Ankara.
Regarding the Taiwanese event, the key outcomes of the Smart City Summit & Expo 2025 were presented, along with the positive development of Hungarian–Taiwanese economic relations. In addition to representatives of Hungarian companies participating in the SCE, the event was attended by Mark Liu, Director of the Taiwan Trade Center, and Tamara Vér, Head of the Hungarian Trade Office in Taipei. It was emphasized that the BKIK, with the participation of 11 companies, was represented by the largest European Union delegation at the event. It was also noted that participating companies consider the longer lead time required for building partnerships and establishing business relations to be a challenge.
In connection with the visit to Thailand, participants exchanged views on the positive trends in Hungarian–Thai foreign economic relations, as well as on administrative and licensing obstacles that hinder market entry. Diplomatic missions expressed their willingness to cooperate and provide support in advancing ongoing business relationship-building processes. The event was attended by H.E. Szilvia Szalóki, Ambassador of Hungary to Thailand, and H.E. Phrommes Bhaholpolbhayuhasena, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to Hungary.
It can be considered a significant success that Foldana Group has initiated its entry into the Thai market following the Smart City Summit & Expo and is currently working on opening its office in Bangkok. Preparations for the official opening of the office are underway with the involvement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
The presence of Foldana Group in Thailand successfully demonstrates the effectiveness of business delegations supported by BKIK and MKIK, as well as targeted networking processes and the collaborations launched as a result of the Smart City Summit & Expo.
